I know I'm a tad early but it's Tuesday for me now! And if it's Tuesday, it's also [info]dragonsangel68 's birthday!

Happy birthday, Jen!

I hope today's an absolutely smashing day for you and that you get a chance to sit back and relax! *hands you champagne and cake*

It's a special day for [info]seegrim  today! A special sort of day where she gets cake and lots of love!

Happy birthday, Celeste!

I hope it's a truly fantabulous one and that your year is full of a realization of how abundantly blessed you are. :)

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]numbaby !

You've already gotten your birthday wishes but... have a cake too. :D

(I was going to give you pirate cupcakes but I might just save that for Kate... December's not too far away from May...)

Now that I'm prepared, I'm looking forward to the trial (non-accessable!) teaching demos on Thursday. I'm teaching my mother's dialect of Chinese. Yes, I'm teaching a language that I don't speak. I got a crash course at about 9pm tonight. *blinky* You know how they say that learning from a native speaker is the best? Sometimes it really isn't because Mum has no clue about how to correct me or aid me in this whole pronouncing thing. >.< Well, I've been exposed to (bits!) of the language pretty much from birth and I can say rude things like 'fart' and 'bottom'. That has to count for something, right?

Ok, the tired, babbling girl is off to bed. I'll tell you how it goes after Friday when my (assessable and not finished) Asian Studies essay is due. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Thank goodness I'm not driving tomorrow. *yawns*

First of all,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMMIE!

I hope your day is wonderful and that you're showered with love. *huggles hard* May this next year bring an abundance of blessing and clarity in what the future will bring. There's one thing I'm sure of and it's that it will be a good future. Jer 29:11, yo!

James and I just watched Monsters vs. Aliens. I haven't laughed that much in awhile and I hang out with kids every day. They're funny creatures but the movie beat them all. I love kids movies - you don't have to avert your eyes at any bit because there's no blood, no violence, no yucky/inappropriate bits and no naked people.

Ok. Back to study! (Is it appropriate to say that you can't wait for the holidays while still being in holidays? I can't wait for mid-year break!)

I've been off and about and really busy for the past... month or two (or three or six). I'm sorry. :( What with uni and youth group and kiddlywinks, the spare time I have is almost zilch. But I'm here to celebrate a few birthdays!

Happy (very belated!) birthday to [info]wolfstar07 ! I'm so very sorry I missed your birthday but I hope it was a fabulous one. :)

Happy birthday, [info]adelagia and [info]oldromantic ! I hope that you have an incredibly joyous day and that people are spoiling you rotten as we speak. *glomps*

Speck (even though my sister is no more a speck and is actually taller than me): Wouldn't it be nice if you were full all the time and didn't need to eat?
Von: Umm... no. I like eating.
Speck: But wouldn't it be nice if you could be awake all the time and didn't need to sleep?
Von: NO! I like sleeping! Stop taking away all my hobbies!

I clearly need to find less sloth-like hobbies.

Trying to think of the word 'haemophilia':
Speck: *sucks thumb* It won't stop bleeding. Maybe I have leukemia.
Von: Don't you mean... *stalls*. Ugh. What's the word? Queen Victoria... You know...
Speck: It's leukemia too!
Von: I'll look it up. *types into Google: victoria blood disease*
Speck: I'll do it. My computer's so much faster than yours.
Von: I was still typing!
Speck: *types into Google: bleeding no clotting*

Daniel: Mum, did you know that men own 98% of the things in the world?
Mum: ...?
Daniel: It's because the women stay at home and look after the children while the men...

Where does he learn this? Oh right. At school. It was a maths problem. O.o

Our Chinese teacher was explaining to us on Tuesday why we had to skip 2 chapters of our textbook and why she picked those chapters to skip. We simply don't have enough time to study all of it so I'm glad they're not making us do something insane like study 2 chapters a week. BUT the chapters we skipped were so interesting! Chapter three was on Chinese parents and school, which she said we shouldn't need to study because it doesn't apply to us sheltered Australian students. Hel-lo? Studying the language doesn't mean we cut out the culture too and anyone with Asian parents will tell you that Confucius says that education is important. Pfffft

Chapter four was on communal chopsticks (you know? They're the chopsticks you put on the main plate... kinda like serving spoons/tongs.)  We don't really use communal chopsticks at home, except when my grandma comes to visit. I thought it was so bizarre but apparently extended family doesn't share spit. Anyway, again, apparently not relevant to us very white Australian students. Hunh. Half the class has black hair and squinty eyes and most of us know how to use chopsticks.

So we flick to chapter five. Guess what the topic is? Internet love. So infinitely more relevant to us than Chinese culture. But anyway, it made me think of you. Not that I'm about to have an online wedding with/run away with any of you, let alone stab you for falling in love with someone else (creepy, I know.). *sigh* Bizarre.

Happy birthday,[info]eliagem !

I hope today's a great one for you, whatever it is that you choose to do! Have a blessed year. :)

*is exhausted* I would be lying if I said I didn't know why but I don't know that I can do anything about it. Busybusybusy. This is probably why I can't sit still for any length of time and why I always need to be doing something.

But anyway, back to it! *loves*

It's Chinese New Year on Monday and I've been talking to a friend who's also stuck with me in Australia. Now I'm craving all sorts of goodies that I can't have unless I bake them myself. *pouts* [info]adelagia , make sure you eat all the kueh kuehs for me, ok? *tummy rumbles*

My MindMap arrived! Check it out!

It's [info]persephone33 's birthday today!

Happy birthday, Carrie!

Here's to a fantastic year, absolutely chock full of blessings and joys. I hope today is really special and that everyone around you remembers to spoil you rotten. Even the nasty drivers on the road, especially them. :D *sends hugs and chocolate*

It's been stinking hot in Canberra. Well, stinking hot if you have to spend half the day looking after children with a strange affinity to the outdoors. :D I think I'm developing a T-shirt tan.

Does it count as late if it's still on time where you are?

Happy birthday, Kate!

I hope today's awesome for you and that this year brings many blessings, both new and old!

Eeek! It's Christmas Day today!

Wishing everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, but Christmas is sort of a time for me to sit back and reflect on all the blessings that I've been given because, you know, it's the celebration of the greatest blessing that a girl (or guy!) can ever be given. :D *bounces*

... I think I might go take a nap. I'm pooped and we're having guests (well, ok, guest) over for dinner tonight - Mum's got a soft heart for people who live away from their families so she's invited my youth group co-leader over. Should be fun!

p.s. I know I've been awfully slack - I haven't done Christmas cards this year like I meant to but I will send them out soon, they might just get there a lot later than they should have. It'll be a surprise! (or something)

Almost didn't make it! Sorry, Urs... it's been a crazy week. But here I am!

Happy Birthday, [info]heyurs!

I hope your special day was absolutely awesome! I know it's horribly, awfully late, but my Christmas cards will probably be Easter cards the way I'm going. *huggles*

I'm back! I know this is horribly naughty of me, but I'm got 50 emails in my inbox and I'm not going to read them until tomorrow. So if you've said anything important to me in the past 6 weeks (it's probably been that long since I've checked it properly), it'll just have to wait, I'm sorry. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is to wish someone special a very happy birthday.

Happy birthday, Caroline!

Here's to a blessed day and a kick-arse year!

p.s. There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home.

Hi guys,

I'm off to China/Singapore for the next few weeks. Take care and I'll catch up with my flist soon, I promise!

Happy birthday, [info]tudorrose1533 and [info]pipperstorms ! I hope your days are filled with joy and all manner of good things. :D

Because what else is there to do when you have an essay to write on Sartre? Really.

From ages ago. Yoinked from [info]persephone33 and [info]numbaby and... others that I forget because it's been that long.

* Take a picture of yourself right now.
* Don’t change your clothes.
* Don’t fix your hair
* Just take a picture.
* Post that picture with no editing. (Except maybe to get the image size down to something reasonable. Don’t go posting an eight megapixel image.)
* Include these instructions.

I look more amused than I should be at this time of the night/morning )

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it.

Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi (if you want to ask about that, make sure to explain to me what that is first!), favourite type of underwear, life experiences etc. Then, if you'd like to, repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Ok. Back to it.

Happy birthday, [info] ladyendymion !

I hope today brings you lots of blessings (and cake!). Have a fantabulistic year!

It's cloudy and cold today; the skies were blue and I was sweating from the heat yesterday. What's going on?

p.s. New layout! It's bright and simple, which is pretty much all I can handle at the moment. It reminds me of summer, which is coming, I'm sure of it.
